The Hero's Journey Essay prompt and Essay Organizer

Objectives:
-Define a new vocabulary word, and develop an example, non-example, draw a picture and develop a showing sentence using the vocabulary word.
-create a mini-dialogue that demonstrates understanding of the elements of dialogue and incorporates “show not tell writing”
--Identify the elements of a narrative, analyze a prompt, and begin to map out student’s own hero’s journey (as it relates to their  life)

Agenda:

-Bellwork Vocab: implacable and Bellwork Vocab: adversary
-The Chase by Annie Dillard Dissect according to stages of hero’s journey Hero’s journey graphic
-Introduce Hero’s Journey Essay
--Focus on one childhood memory and fill out the
Essay Organizer
The Cyclops movie clip
If there is time, Introduce dialogue


HW:
-Finish filling out the Essay Organizer due Monday
-Study for Vocabulary test due Monday
-Honors dialectical Journal entries #2-3 due tuesday
