Homework for Wednesday August 26, 2015
CP and H:  Read Ch 8 TKAM
CP and H HW: Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird explores the concept of identity through our young narrator, Scout Finch. Scout’s upbringing in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama helps to shape her identity as a young girl. The townspeople of Maycomb with their varying social classes and Scout’s family members drastically impact her. As a reader, we will witness Scout’s growth and ability to shape her own identity within Maycomb.
Directions: Using Lee’s characterization of Scout throughout the novel thus far and the events of chapter 8, identify how Scout perceives herself and her role within Maycomb. Write a half page response reflecting upon what we know about Scout’s self perception and her role within Maycomb. Include one piece of textual evidence from chapter 8 that contributes to her perception and write it in ES format.
